Parks and Green Spaces Make Edmonton a Pet Paradise
Proficient use of green space makes the sprawling city of Edmonton one of the most beautiful cities in the country for residents and their four-legged friends. The North Saskatchewan River Valley weaves a vibrant "ribbon of green" through the urban landscape of Edmonton, connecting the largest stretch of urban park land in North America. What this means to Fido is that there are over 40 designated leash-free sites peppering the city, offering countless hours of entertainment and exercise for Edmonton's well-heeled dogs.
Edmonton's frequent festivals aren't limited to human participants. The Edmonton Humane Society holds an annual Pets in the Park day for all species of animal companion at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park, appropriately located next to the Edmonton Zoo. There owners can socialize and learn while their leashed pets do the same. Besides its usual adoption services, the Humane Society also operates a pet store, day care, basic veterinary care and a fenced, off-leash Central Bark dog park for its members.
